Just a little update from the Marley Family. Stephen Marley, one of Bob's sons will be releasing his first solo record this summer, June 7. He has been better known for the production side of music, but from the sounds I heard at the Damian/Stephen Marley show, this is sure to be a hit.

I've been wasting time on the internet recently looking for live music. I was able to come up with some pretty good stuff though. I found a concert that Bob played in 1980 in California. The sound quality is excellent, and it is a typical emotion filled marley set. Great versions on "Positive Vibration", "Exodus", "Ride Natty Ride", and Heathen. I also got my hands on a show from 1976 in Paris, and a show in Zimbabwe in 1978, one of 2 shows Bob ever played in Africa.

So the concert was pretty damn sweet, just as I expected it to be, and then some. As I have mentioned before, Damian "Jr. Gong" is the youngest son of Bob Marley's and incorporates a hip-hop/reggae fusion in his music. The night started off with Stephen Marley, Damian's brother, opening the show with a few of his fathers classics as well as a few new songs off his album that is due out in June. Stephen set the stage for Damian, and when Damian's time came he took care of business. He rocked the place with his energy and passion for his music, he provided a real spark for the audience. He pereformed for over an hour with a mix of Bob Marley classics and many songs from "Jr. Gongs" forst 2 albums. He ended the concert with the first single off of his next album, "Welcome to Jam Rock." ALl in all, great show, and look for new Damian and Stephen albums this summer.

Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley Show

Bob Marley's sons have dedicated their lives to paying tribute to their father's by carrying on the tradition of his music. Damian Marley, Bob Marley's youngest son, will being playing a show at the TLA in Philadelphia on April 19th. The first time I saw Damian perform was at the Bob Marley Festival this past summer in Wilmington, De and he was the highlight of the show. I would recommend this show to anyone who has a passion for Bob Marley and reggae music. Damian's own personal style is more of a reggae/hip hop fusion. For all of you, like myself, who are interested in Bob Marley merchandise and other accessories you can check out ebay for tons of stuff. You'll be able to find various items from CD's to Poster's to Clothing clothing etc etc. However my favorite Bob Marley item listed on ebay is this Tuff Gong T-Shirt. Tuff Gong was Bob Marley's record label and I dig the colors. Check out more Bob Marley items at Ebay.com It's too bad I never have enough money to buy myself such great things like this.

I found this artwork on the internet. I liked it enough to decide to throw it on my blog. I particuarly like th use of Jamaican colors in the background. I have recently acquired Bob Marley's last concert before he died. The concert was at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pa on September 23, 1980. This concert came 2 days after Marley had collapsed in Central Park in New York while taking a jog. He was taken to the hospital where he was told he had a month to live because of a brain tumor. Bob was able to play one last amazing show before he had to call off the rest of the tour because he was too ill to continue. My collection of Bob Marley concerts on CD is fairly thin, but I have to give a shout out to my buddy Nate for hooking me up with this CD. If anyone is interested in this CD let me know, and if you have other concerts and you want to share them also let me know. I am always looking for more Marley shows. Despite Bob's condition he still put on a strong show, and the quality of the audio is quite good for the time of the recording. The following is the set list for Bob Marley's last concert.

Bob Would Have Been 60!

Recently, on February 6th, 2005, Bob Marley would have been 60 years old. Bob died at the age of 36 in 1981 from cancer that was a result from an untreated soccer injury to his foot. His family, friends, and fans celebrated his music and life at an all day birthday bash in Ethiopia. The all day concert featured various artists including Bob Andy, Spragga Benz, Lauryn Hill, and Florida A&M Choir just to name a few of the opening acts. But as the night grew on, it was time for the headliners to hit the stage. The sons of Bob Marley, Ziggy, Damian, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani, Robert and Rohan entered the stage hand in hand all dressed in ethiopian shirts. Many of the Marley sons have had success with solo careers, however together they form the Melody Makers and sometimes referred to as the Ghetto Youths. The set list for the Marley brothers performance is as follows.
